the all-or-nothing force feeding is toxic. Yes politics is extremely important, facisms on the rise.
(I love talking politics)
but it is exhausting and potentially harmful to never get a break, everyone can only contribute to their means. that means discussing politics as well
What’s not pictured: all the political crap hanging on the walls of red shirts house, who “doesn’t want to argue politics” (read: knows they’re fucking wrong).
Is it just me being to european that it seems really strange to me, thatlyoulonly talk with your family about politics once a year? That’s like the most talked about subject at every of our family gatherings…
Our lives are so segmented that we only see our cousins once a year
I mean it’s the most urgent time for american politics. Anyone who does not participate at this point is an enemy or too impaired in order to participate.
So I have been told MY ENTIRE FUCKING ADULT LIFE!!!
It never fucking ends.
Oh, hey cousin!
People trying to live their lives are the enemy?
if they do not participate in the slightest actions against gestapo then yes. Current USA is as black and white as it can be. Just being okay with it enough to do absolutely nothing is disgusting.
Good. You can spend Thanksgiving “fighting the good fight” while the rest of us try to survive and have a day not filled with doom and gloom.
Put yourself on a news diet, take all this energy and put it into doing good locally when and where you can, and leave it away from conversations with the family during Thanksgiving.
Or you can fucking host and set whatever rules you want.
I am politically active. I gather signatures every time I find something worth it, I write to my representatives, and all I ask from all the others is to be aware and consider signing. I am petty about signing stuff only if it’s about literal torture. And my country (not USA) is not even in shit. I just try to make it better (successfully I dare to say). Maybe you should consider fighting fascists rather fighting for them by discouraging others from protecting their loved ones and their freedoms.
