LLMs cannot avoid hallucinations and even now are being trained on their own excrement, human centipede style. I use ai tools for embedded code generation regularly. They are getting noticeably better by the month. The tools that wrap the ai direct it better and the reasoning systems really work out pretty complicated systems quite well now. One still needs to know how to architect stuff, and be aware to redirect it when it goes off the rails, but there’s absolutely no doubt that it speeds up coding and can do a good job.
