It’s a slippery slope. What’s next? Water, food, shelter, healthcare, personal freedom, leisure? Give me a break with all these handouts and just give me the exploitable labor. \s

Even worse, one of those two votes is often enough to kill the entire thing, because they have unilateral “it has to be unanimous” or “this one specific country can overrule everyone else” rules on the important shit.

You’re missing every other Western country “abstaining” because they’re too embarrassed to vote no.

Depends on the vote. For example see the yearly “The US Blockade is illegal and immoral and should stop immediately” UN vote. Pretty much always just US and Israel. And lately Ukraine.

Edit: and one or two heavily US aligned tiny Island nations sometimes e.g. Marshall Islands

Abstaining and even voting yes on the matter simply because they know for certain that the usa will vote no, allowing them to save face. Plenty of non western countries practice that as well

I’m honestly not even sure why they used the “breathing” as hyperbole, because this is based on an actual vote where all the other western nations voted yes rather than abstaining. The vote is on making food a human right. Since food is just as necessary to live as breathing, all this “hyperbole” does is convince people that the US isn’t actually this evil, which it literally is.

      Hear my idea:

First we pollute the air enough to be almost unbreathable (as a side gig, we get to burn oil, coal steel…)

Then we make special facilities to filter said pollution from air before said air enters the house.

Then we sell these house for a premium with grade AAA+++ the best air quality ever.

Now, what to do with the defective filters?

Put in a house with grade B+ air quality.

Grade C will be the houses that get the air that was exhausted from AAA+++ and B+ (after being breathed a few times and with no filtering).

Grade F is the good old coal air that the people who can’t pay will have to breath as they work in the coal burning facilities.
