I hope this drives more young voters away from them. Some young voters are returning to the right in the USA, uk etc, more so than millennials who skew more left.

The passkey is only passed on with an unlocked device. So, if someone stole your passkey device, they can’t copy it and use it without unlocking.

Or rather, making security convenient leads to adoption. Making it inconvenient leads to insecure workarounds.
