I’m sure some of us remember the days of tickle me Elmo and furby. i was not of gift buying days, but remember all the media coverage. Also had an older friend who really wanted one, and I was just thinking like “really bruh, just cause it’s trendy?”.
I’m still waiting for my veterans pay for Beanie Babies ‘95.
Or the tickle me Elmo terror of the mid 90s
Notice how nobody even wants to mention the Furby “incident?” I wish I could just forget so easily. I also wish I had my limbs and mind back, but freedom isn’t free.
My Furby terrified me. It would just start talking in the middle of the night so I put it in the closet. It kept talking in the closet as well so I crushed it with my grandma’s hospital bed. I got in huge trouble for that because it actually broke the hospital beds leg raising feature. It got stuck in the raised position and she had to permanently sleep with her legs up until it was replaced.
that’s hilarious i mean awful
😬
I worked at Walmart for that one.
Adults literally brawling in the aisles over them.

I still have my Cabbage Patch doll with certificate. His name is Cleon Elwin.
I like to go grocery shopping at Walmart on Black Friday. I’m not fazed. I was there in the trenches with my aunt for Tickle me Elmo and Beanie Babies. I was born and bred for this.
I was a kid for some of these and not only did I, as a kid, have no interest in any of those wild fads that caused carnage in the stores, I didn’t know any other kids who were interested in them, either. Maybe tomagachi and pokemon; but I don’t remember seeing people fighting over those on the news. I might have been too into my tomagotchi and pokemon to have noticed. 🤔
Beanie babies too
